ABOUT
ANIMA was a multi-media performance piece, created by Amy Lewis and Agnes Szelag, based on theories in David Abram’s 1996 book The Spell of the Sensuous. Key themes discussed by Abram were explored: the transformation of sensory awareness due to our immersion with technology, animism, and our symbol-induced alienation from nature. Lewis and Szelag interweaved dance, video, and sound to create an alternate reality embedded in the sensory experience, aiming to alter perceptions of time and space.
