From 2005 to 2007, Lewis made three dance pieces inspired by Bach’s Fugue No. 4 in C# Minor and Fugue No. 6 in D minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier. These pieces were performed in silence, with the intention that the viewer would sense the music by watching the dance. The score was translated to the body, invoking Bach’s themes, dynamic ranges, rhythm, and structure.
